SaaS Operations Engineer – Immediate Hire!
Location: San Mateo
Local Candidates only and this position is not available to H1 Visa Transfers
$100 – 110K base plus good options
We are the premier SaaS provider of spend management applications, we simply help companies spend smarter and save money! Our SaaS offering is built on the cutting edge Ruby on Rails platform and delivered using Amazon’s Web Services, utilizing the top cloud computing resources in the world.
The role is a hands-on role where the candidate will work to architect, build, and manage our best in class hosting operations. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of web technologies. The candidate should also be comfortable creating and running web applications. Amazon Web Services and SAS70 Type II experience is a plus.
Other responsibilities include disaster recovery, security, scalability, load balancing, redundancy and handling backups.
This role also involves pre-sales situations to address security concerns and working very closely with engineering to design and implement the next generation infrastructure for the application.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides expertise regarding high level service availability, technical architecture and standards/process to operations and engineering teams.
* Recommends appropriate course of action to developers and senior management, based on past, current and future service quality issues.
* Recommend proactive course of action to operations, engineering and design teams.
* Run pre-production acceptance verification and make sure the products are ready for production.
* Provide data and root cause analysis for each service impacting incident with all possible corrective actions for improvement.
* Responsible to maintain 24/7 service to customers and reduce MTTR in case of service interruption.
* Provide high level support to operations and technical support team in case of service outage and customer reported problems.
* If required work with customers to identify and resolve customer issues
* Collects, analyzes, interprets, summarizes data and makes recommendations in preparation for high level service availability and quality.
* Design or utilize tools to collect, analyze and monitor the application or server logs.
* Participate in product design discussions and make appropriate recommendations.
* Deploy software patches and upgrades into production and perform post-patch verification.
* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
* 3+ years of experience in design, implementation and operations support.
* BS or Engineering in Computer science or electronics or related IT focused.
* Experience working with Amazon Web Services, MySQL
* Extensive knowledge of Ruby on Rails
* Extensive knowledge of SaaS Security
* Extensive knowledge of Apache & Phusion Passenger
* Ability to work under pressure in 24/7 environment.
* Take full responsibility for prioritizing the tasks presented to the group.
* Must have exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills.
* Must be able to work on 24/7 on call schedule.
* Must be able to work constructively in team environment.
* Ability to design and implement systems that are necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.
* Ability to gather and analyze data and generate reports
* SaaS experience strongly desired
